SOUTH & SOUTH-EAST SULAWESI OVERLAND TOUR

Day01. ARRIVAL IN MAKASSAR / DRIVE TO TANA TORAJA (L,D)

Upon arrival at Hasanuddin Airport Makassar, you will be welcomed by our Tour Guide. Then transfer directly to Tana Toraja with approx. 8 hours drive passing through the Buginese Villages with its typical wooden houses built on stilts. First visit will be made in SUMPANGBINANGAE, a local Bugis fishermen village where we can see their traditional PA’BAGAN fishing system. Here we also can find some local activities of the fishermen on their free time in mainland. Lunch will be served at KUPA BEACH RESTAURANT, offers lunch with stunning sea and island view. In the afternoon, stop also will be made at Puncak Lakawan for having coffee-break while enjoy the spectacular view of the erotic Mt. BUTTUKABOBONG. Late in the afternoon, arrive in Rantepao – the capital of North Toraja Regency. Dinner and overnight stay at Toraja Misiliana Hotel.

Day02. TORAJA TOUR (B,L,D)

After breakfast, we will take you on a full day excursion around Toraja. In the morning we will visit LEMO where we can find stone graves on the cliff-sides with rows of effigies called TAU-TAU representing for the deaths. After that, proceed to SANGALLA sub-district where we will visit TAMPANGALLO, one of the most ancient burial caves in Tana Toraja. Here we can find entombed bones are set in the corners of cave, and impressive ancient coffins and Tau-Tau effigies. Then taking about 15 minutes walking to SUAYA to discover the majestic and authentic small Torajan villages offer the sensation of peaceful. Then in Suaya we can find the graves of the former SANGALLA ROYAL FAMILY. Afterwards, drive about 20 minutes to KOTE where you will be experiencing the extra-ordinary story about the Baby Graves on Tree. Lunch will be served at PANORAMA RESTAURANT, where you can taste and enjoy the typical Torajan cuisines; such as PAMMARRASAN (meat with black seasoning) or PAPPIONG (Chicken Cooked in Bamboo). After lunch, we will take you on a soft walking tour around KARUAYA to enjoy the fascinating villages, hills and rice terraces including the local activities. Before going to the hotel, we will take our time to visit the most glorious and important village of the Toraja Community which is KETE’ KESU where we can find old Torajan Tongkonan Houses and Rice Barns. This village is also listed as one of World Heritages by UNESCO. After enough time, back to TORAJA MISILIANA HOTEL for dinner and overnight stay.

Day03. TORAJA TOUR (B,L,D)

After breakfast, we will take you on another full day Tour exploring the north part of Tana Toraja. For the first visit, we will take you to LONDA, where we can find the strangest and most spectacular grave in world. After that, we will visit BOLU to discover the buffalo market where we will get know how important and how precious the buffalos are for the Toraja people in their funerary rites. Then proceed to BORI to find the ancient monoliths and a Torajan house, decorated with more than 300 buffalo horns. Our tour will be continued to SA’DAN Weaving Center where you can see women weave the traditional Toraja Ikat and Sarong. This village also offers a very nice ambience with its authentic houses, river and mountain with rice terraces. Then visiting PALLAWA, an ancient Torajan village where you will find the original style how do the Torajan live in each community. After that, driving up to TINIMBAYO Highlands where we can make nature photography stop, capturing the beautiful wild-rice terraces dotted with small villages with many rocks spreading over on the rice fields. Lunch will be served at SAMAN BATUTUMONGA Café & Restaurant, offers fantastic and breath-taking view of Rantepao, surrounded by rocky-mountains. After lunch, we will visit the giant rock of LO’KOMATA which is full of graves. In the afternoon, we will take you on a soft adventure around LANDORUNDUN, a village which is more remote where we can enjoy walking tour quietly and peacefully with impressive villages and marvelous rice-fields. Then back to Rantepao VIA BUNTULOBO. Dinner and overnight stay at TORAJA MISILIANA HOTEL.

Day04. TORAJA – SENGKANG /LAKE TEMPE / 4-5 HOURS DRIVE (B,L,D)

After breakfast, set out to Sengkang VIA Palopo, where we the road between Toraja to Palopo offers one of the most beautiful mountain sceneries in Indonesia. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant en-route. In the afternoon, arrive in Sengkang. Onwards proceed to the river Walanae where we will have a motorized-canoe tour, crossing out to the Lake Tempe to explore the daily life of the Buginese fishermen who do live on the floating houses. Here we will visit one of the fishermen’s houses, taking a cup of tea or coffee while listen the story of this community. From the floating house, we will also try to catch the wonderful sunset over the lake. After enough time, back to the center of Sengkang. Dinner and overnight stay at BBC Hotel Sengkang.

Day05. SENGKANG – BONE/BAJOE PORT/FERRY TO KOLAKA (B,L,D)

At 7.00 AM, check out hotel. Then drive to Bone, located the center of the former Bugis Kingdom. On arrival in Bone, drive through to BAJOE PORT to catch our ferry-boat to cross to South-East Sulawesi Province, precisely to the region of KOLAKA. Lunch will be served on ferry-boat. Late in the afternoon, arrive in Kolaka. Onwards transfer to SULTAN Raja Hotel Kolaka.

Day06. TOUR TO BLUE LAGOON “TELAGA BIRU” / DRIVE TO KENDARI (B,L,D)

After breakfast, we will take you to the Blue Lagoon “Telaga Biru” in within Kolaka area. After that, drive about 4 hours to Kendari, the capital of South-East Sulawesi Province. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant in Kendari. After lunch, we will take you on exploring the MORAMO Waterfall, a beautiful multi-stepped waterfall situated on the middle of a tropical rain-forest. After that check in at SWISS-Bel Hotel Kendari for dinner and overnight stay.

Day07. BOAT TRANSFER TO LABENGKI ISLANDS (B,L,D)

After breakfast, drive about more than 1 hour to Sawa village, where we will have a boat transfer to LABENGKI NIRWANA RESORT with approx. 2 hours sailing. On arrival your arrival in Labengki, check in at the resort/Free Program. Lunch, Dinner will be served at the resort.

Day08. FULL DAY LABENGKI TOUR (B,L,D)

After breakfast, we will take on a full tour around Labengki Islands. In the morning we will take you a snorkeling tour enjoy the beauty of Labengki’s sub-marine with various colors of coral-reefs and distinct bio-diversity. After that, we will visit the LOVELY BAY “Teluk Cinta”, a romantic spot which offers a spectacular view of the peninsulas. Then we will take you the village of BAJO People at LABENGKI KECIL. Lunch will be served on the spot. After that, we continue our exploration to LABENGKI BLUE LAGOON. After enough time, back to LABENGKI NIRWANA RESORT for dinner and overnight stay.

Day09. FULL DAY LABENGKI – SOMBORI – LABENGKI (B,L,D)

Today we cross about 2 hours to Sombori Islands, another majestic archipelago which also offers the authenticity of the local life and spectacular underwater life. On arrival at Sombori Islands, we will proceed to its best snorkeling spots which surprisingly will make speechless seeing its underwater beauty. After that, we will visit the ISLAND KAYANGAN and proceed walking up the peak of Kayangan hill enjoy the view of Sombori Islands from hill-top. Picnic lunch will be served on the spot. After lunch, we will visit BERLIAN CAVE, a nice stalactite and stalagmite cave which look like the sparkle of diamond. After enough time, cross back to Labengki. Dinner and overnight stay at LABENGKI NIRWANA RESORT.

After breakfast, free program until the time for boat-transfer to SAWA Village. On arrival at Sawa Village, transfer to Kendari Airport to catch you flight to Jakarta by CITY LINK.
